"Since 2012, Elmira Pet Products has been involved in successful partnerships within the School of Media and Design at Conestoga College that have enhanced experiential student learning. The focus of the College is to provide project-based learning which ensures students get the hands-on experience they need to graduate with the skills and knowledge sought by employers. It’s partnerships like this that contribute to the College’s record of almost 90% of its graduates obtaining employment within six months of graduation.

Elmira Pet Products has provided solid practical experience to our students by entering into client relationships with students in the
Integrated Marketing Communications and Graphic Design programs. These relationships have included the creation of marketing communications plans, the development of product packaging and the assessment of portfolio presentations in mock job interviews. These experiences broaden student understanding of the lessons taught in the classroom andenhance the educational experience by challenging students to solve real-world issues. The management at Elmira Pet Products has been strategic in its partnerships with Conestoga, but most significantly, it has backed these opportunities with thoughtful and well-informed mentoring of the involved students."

"While studying at Conestoga College I had the opportunity to work with Elmira Pet Products on an Integrated Marketing Communications plan.  The plan required my team to familiarize ourselves with the company and its culture, and assess them to determine strengths and weaknesses.  From there, we developed a plan to build and improve on the shortcomings, and leverage and effectively market the strengths and unique aspects of the company.

Our research showed us that EPP was the industry leader in terms of product development, formulation and extrusion, and our experience showed us that that was not all.  The Senior Management team genuinely cared about more than just profitability; they put daily emphasis on employee happiness, company culture, and community outreach.  As employers, they held themselves to the same level of quality they demand in their product: second to none.

The entire Senior Management team attended the presentation of our plan,where they met our recommendations with open arms.  At this time, many of our suggestions have been implemented, and I am excited to watch the company build upon its existing foundation to become even stronger."
